The ALDI Toy Spectacular Special Buys event has been announced

Lock it in the diary – the store’s biggest toy sale is coming on Wednesday 21st June.

TOY SALE!

Have I got your attention?

What about if I said ALDI TOY SALE?

Listening now?

Well you probably should be if you want to nab some bargains for your little gremlins darling children for birthdays and Christmas because ALDI’s annual Toy Spectacular Special Buys event is coming… very soon!

The sale kicks off on Wednesday 21st of June, and it’s set to be even bigger than the recent and tres crazy annual Snow Gear sale.

According to Rosie Reed from The Kidz Curator, aka Kidspot’s go-to person when it comes to bargains for the kids, the ALDI toy spectacular is an annual event that is not to be missed.

“The toy spectacular never fails to disappoint me. It has a wide range of high-quality wooden toys which encourage imaginative play and are within an affordable price range,” she says.

“I’ve purchased from the sale before, when my oldest boy was probably one or two years old, and the toys are still going strong and being played with now and he’s nearly six!”

The bargain items you absolutely MUST have

According to Rosie, there are a few favourites that still stand in her home which should definitely nab.

“The red London bus and airport playsets are firm favourites in our household but other hot ticket items will definitely be the kitchen appliances, high tea and play food sets - perfect for cubby houses and play kitchens,” she says.

Be prepared

Like any other massive ALDI sale (do we really need to remind you how huge the Collette Dinnigan Young Hearts and Snow Gear sales were???) the trick to walking out of there without a pounding headache AND with everything you wanted, is you need to be prepared.

Here are our top 6 tips parents swear by:

SET YOUR ALARM - Forget your Saturday morning sleep in (if you’re a parent you know there’s no chance of a sleep in anyway) and set the alarm early. Eager shoppers will be lining up outside ALDI stores from the crack of dawn to cement their spot at the start of the line.

Most stores open at 8:30am with a few opening at 8am so check what time your store is going to open.

GO WITH A PLAN - Make a list of what you want. You need to know what you need to buy so you don’t waste time fighting over the wooden train set if you really don’t think your kids will want it.

While we encourage you to not get sidetracked by other bargain toys and books (because we all know how easy that will be!) it might be an idea to add birthday and Christmas presents for friends and family to your list too.

LEAVE THE KIDS AT HOME - This is a no brainer because a) kids can be an absolute nightmare during chaotic sales like this and b) They will want EVERYTHING!

If you’re brave enough, go through the catalogue together with the kids to see what they would like beforehand, but we would suggest not promising anything to them to avoid the tantrum if you didn’t manage to get your hands on it.

HAVE YOUR COFFEE BEFOREHAND - This is going to work for you on two levels, firstly you will be wide awake, caffeinated, focused and absolutely ready to go when the doors are opened.

Secondly, you’ll have two hands for shopping and no risk of spilling hot coffee all over yourself or your trolley full of bargains.

DON’T STICK WITH YOUR FRIENDS -  Divide and conquer is the ultimate plan when it comes to making the most out of the sale. If you’re going with one friend make sure they know what they’re in for and know exactly what each of you will be going after.

Make sure they are a worthy teammate for taking on the sale and won’t be distracted by anything silly and hold you back.

WHEN IN DOUBT, JUST GRAB IT! - Don’t even stop to think about it, just do it. If you’re trying to decide if your daughter will actually like and play with the high tea set or if your son already has the Lego kits, just get them and you can always return them with your receipt on Monday – or save them for the next kids birthday party the gremlins are invited to.
